Will humans ever go extinct?
humans have lived on earth for about about 200,000 years. we have strived to survive and we have been doing great at that; judging from our continual increase in population. we have definetely dominated earth and no other animal is even close to being a threat to the human race. the safety of other animals is not even close to how safe we humans are. other animals live in the forests or other habitats with harsh conditions; they are exposed to diseases, attack from deadlier or bigger animals. they even starve sometimes, they lose their siblings, children and parents very often. it's always a war in their various habitats as they compete with other animals for food, water and habitat. most humans live a comfortable life compared to other creatures. we have always improved our lives to become even more comfortable as time has gone by. from horses to cars, from swimming to ships, from huts to houses of today.there are alot of examples of how humans have managed to improve their lives and become more comfortable.
Nature has thrown alot of things in our faces. predators like the sabre-toothed, A cat that lived alongside early humans, and may have been a fearsome enemy, say scientists, we have also managed to over several pandemics like:
1. HIV/AIDS PANDEMIC (AT ITS PEAK, 2005-2012), Death Toll: 36 million
2. FLU PANDEMIC (1968), Death Toll: 1 million
3. ASIAN FLU (1956-1958), Death Toll: 2 million.
there are several other pandemics in human history. humans have also managed to survive droughts, floods, tornados, hurricanes, earthquakes, e.tc. There are several other things Nature has thrown at humans and we have managed to overcome all.
In fact, nature doesn't want us to go to past the age 35; judging from the way our health start to depreciate from that age. but we have managed to survive to an average lifespan of 79 years. in 1900, the average lifespan of a human was about 46 years. Right now(2020), we are facing the coronavirus(COVID-19) pandemic. we will get past coronavirus and other future pandemics. even though we have managed to survive alot of things in life, there is still one thing we haven't been able to overcome: AGEING.ageing results in death; it is inevitable. But if we can slow down or stop ageing then we would be able to overcome death or extend our lifespan greatly. the biggest question is "Will we ever be able to do this?". Over years, this has been the goal of several scientists; to extend life. life is amazing and most people don't want to die even Most People Who Are Suicidal Don't Want To Die, They Just Don't Want To Be Alive. Nobody is ready to die even elderly people. I remember when I was on bus and then the driver started to speed up, it was the oldest woman on the bus that shouted at the driver so he'd slow down. she said "driver take it easy, I don't want to die". this woman looked like she was in her 70's or 80's. After hearing that woman say that, I looked at her for a while and i felt bad, I realised nobody will ever get ready enough to die.Death has always been human's biggest fear; but as times have passed, it has been seen as something that is inevitable but that's not true. humans will stop dying in the future. right now, Brain-computer interfaces have only been able transfer thoughts to text and that's progress. In the future, we would be able to transfer consciousness to those computers and also be able to transfer our consciousness to android or back to a human brain. overcoming death will happen but there are also advances that would lead to that. advances like using synthetic body parts to reconstruct humans, human's lifespan will continue to increase in this decade.we humans will start manipulating our bodies more and more as we begin to understand them better. disabled people and children would be corrected using synthetic body parts. people with mental disability would also be helped as we would understand the brain better. these are all we should have achieved before we eventually transfer consciousness to a computer and also be able to transfer that consciousness back to a human brain and therefore live forever.
